The area was originally a gift to Daniel Williams, a revolutionary war Lieutenant, in thanks for his service. After the introduction of electric streetcars to the area, linking East Nashville to downtown, the neighborhood was incorporated into Nashville. In the past decade, it has undergone tremendous change, now touting arguably the best food scene in Nashville with a fantastic variety.
The Shelby Bottoms Park and Nature Area along the Cumberland River offers 5 miles of paved trails for walking, running, and biking within the neighborhood’s urban setting. The nature area also has a fantastic diversity of wildflowers, amphibians, and birds with great viewing opportunities. Shelby Bottoms golf course, the city’s oldest municipal course, is adjacent to the park, offering 18-holes in an accessible setting.
The 5 Points area of Lockeland Springs offers an incredible, diverse selection of dining, nightlife, shopping and lifestyles activities. Five Points Pizza offers arguably the best authentic pizza in Nashville as well as a phenomenal craft bar. Rumors East is another incredibly unique restaurant, as patrons dine in a converted Victorian-style house that can also be rented as an event space. 3 Crow Bar is a lively spot known for its upscale pub food and trivia nights. All of these, and more, are contained within the Five Points section of Lockeland Springs.Mitchell Deli is one of East Nashville’s top neighborhood spots. This place has been named as Nashville’s ‘best sandwich’ in the Scene’s annual best-of, and is known for its fresh, local ingredients and fantastic breakfast and lunch. Inglewood Lounge is a hip neighborhood bar. This place has a great selection of whisky, cheap beer, and custom craft drinks with a terrific small food menu. The decor and ambiance are two of its biggest draws, as its been described as hanging out in your coolest friend’s living room.
