North nashville Neighborhood

The Neighborhood

The area was originally home to Buena Vista Elementary, one of the first desegregated schools in the city during the Civil Rights Movement. The area has undergone incredible changes in the past decade, with housing and living opportunities proliferating due to the emerging restaurant scene in neighboring Germantown as well as access to downtown.

Buena Vista has an abundance of access to parks and greenspace.  Along the Cumberland River lies Buena Vista Park, which offers great access to the Cumberland River Greenway, with three miles of paved trail that will take you from Metro Center all the way to 1st Avenue downtown. In addition to the greenway, the park has public tennis courts and ball fields, both of which are equipped with flood lights, giving residents access at all times of the day.  Ted Rhodes Golf Course is adjacent to Buena Vista Park, named for iconic golfer Ted Rhodes who paved the way for black golfers in professional golf, the course offers 18 holes in a very walkable and beautiful setting.  On the same grounds, Ted Rhodes Park provides multi-use reservable fields that are used for a variety of events. The Nashville Farmer's Market (pictured) is also in the area, with access to an abundance of fresh produce on the weekends and diverse dinning options all week.

The area is home to what is undisputedly one of the best restaurant hubs in Nashville: Germantown. The selection is too extensive to name everything, but we’ll list a few of our favorites.  For a fantastic brunch spot, try Germantown Cafe.  Just blocks from Nissan Stadium, you can try their crabcakes and a mimosa before heading to see the Titans on Sundays.  5th and Taylor (pictured) is one of Nashville’s highest-rated restaurants and is an upscale local favorites.  Their custom cocktails are some of the best in town, with a great menu of fantastic appetizers and entrees to boot.  312 Pizza has some of the best Chicago-style deep dish pies in town, with great beer selection and late-night offerings. For a homey, southern spot try Monell’s.  Monell’s is a family-style restaurant, seating different parties together to create a home-style ambiance.
